Meet Dr. Nancy Caro
DTCM, MTCM, LAc, NCCAOM Diplomat in Acupuncture
I am a first generation Mexican-American born and raised in beautiful South Lake Tahoe, CA. As a child I was guided by a sense that my soul belonged to la comunidad. I felt and continue to feel pulled by a knowing that our communities hold an inner knowing about our own bodies and health. My passion is people and getting to know their life journeys to better aid them in their health journeys.
I received my Bachelor’s in Chicana/o Studies with a minor in Women Studies from UCLA. At UCLA I joined Global Medical Training, where I was the only native Spanish speaker to travel to Panama to provide free basic medical aid to the poor. After graduating I worked as a social worker running a shelter and transitional home for 4 years. I then graduated from Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, CA with both a Masters and Doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Herbology with a concentration in Orthopedics and Medical Qigong. I am a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Texas and am board certified as a diplomat of acupuncture by the National Certificate Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). I use multiple modalities within my scope of practice including acupuncture, herbal medicine, electrical stimulation, manual therapies (cupping, guasha, Chinese medical massage), and dietary and lifestyle counseling.
My life experiences and educational journey have helped me understand the interconnectedness of our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. I believes that good health looks uniquely different to every individual and is impacted by our life experiences, cultural background, and socioeconomic standing. My mission is to create safe spaces of healing while being uplifting, informative, and honoring your body.
It takes a village and I will honor being a part of yours.
